Yes, there is construction. No, it should not stop you from going. Wonderful people with really good food. This is the kind of hole-in-the--the-wall spot worth giving a try. My big group all had the buffet to keep things easy and it did not disappoint. Everything had good flavor and was cooked well. My son would suggest the porkchops and my daughter enjoyed the mac and cheese. Chicken looked really good as well. Our waiter was very personable, met his daughter as well. Cook/owner came out and spoke with us for a bit, overall, a really good experience.

Ran across this food truck at UNCA campus and with a name like Daddy D's I couldn't resist. Best fried fish plate since my childhood days of fish fry's on the nc coast and decently priced. Okra fried to crispy perfection. Classic southern potato salad. The guy running the truck was so nice and charismatic. If you're into for delicious authentic southern fried food this is it.

I threw a 70th birthday party. Daddy D's prepared fried chicken, Mac and cheese, potato salad, Cole slaw. About 50 people there and many compliments. Several said they would be visiting at a later date.

The Suber family run both the full gospel church of Henderson county and the best soul food in Western North Carolina. It's a family business and I love that, been going there and sending people for at least 10 years I don't know why I've never written a review. There are better times to go than others as this place is always busy, The strongest points are the fried pork chops and the fried chicken of course, both perfectly cooked hot out of the fryer, there's a fun rivalry between two of the family members over who makes the best cornbread, If I order off the buffet I always add fried okra which is perfect there, there's a little salad bar and then you get into the sides, pinto beans, mashed potatoes, collards, green beans, the green veggies are where soul food stands out a little different from other southern food as there's usually a little bit of sugar in there, the mac and cheese is absolutely epic, It's done with penne pasta and so much cheese You might as well sign up for your cardiology appointment before you get there, It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience, I've switched to ordering off the buffet as it's too hard not to overeat at this place because the food is just so gosh darn tasty, If you don't have gastroesophageal reflux disorder before you go here, you'll definitely want to take some omeprazole first If you're over 22 , seriously save room for dessert, I've had cobblers here, banana pudding, and even some darn good key lime pie. Everything coming out of David's Suber's kitchen is absolutely So good It should get a Michelin star, that means it's worth coming to this continent just to go to that restaurant. The service is excellent, and supporting a great Christian family business where my family, friends, and I are always greeted by name is so awesome over some souless corporate chain, And for all of those out there who only started supporting and shaming your friends to support businesses of people of color in 2020, there's just another reason to go support this awesome family business... many of us have been going there lots of years before we had you to help us be morally upright people.
